Competing against universities from across the country, FU’s futsal, football, and beach volleyball teams demonstrated their commitment to excellence, bringing home notable victories and valuable national-level experience.
The FU Futsal Team emerged as one of the highlights of the university’s campaign, capturing third place after a series of competitive matches. The Greyhounds opened the tournament with a commanding victory over Liceo de Cagayan University, followed by another win against the University of San Agustin. Despite a setback against defending champions Holy Cross of Davao College, the team advanced to the semifinals.
After falling short against the State University of Northern Negros, the Greyhounds regrouped for their final match against the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. The contest ended in a scoreless draw, but FU prevailed in the penalty shootout through composed execution and crucial saves from goalkeeper Napao, securing the bronze-medal finish.
Meanwhile, the FU Football Team displayed equal determination throughout its campaign. The Greyhounds opened with a draw against Central Philippine University before earning an impressive victory over Xavier University. They later faced a narrow defeat at the hands of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos but secured a place in the quarterfinals. Their tournament journey ended against defending champions Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Despite the loss, the team delivered a commendable performance, particularly with seven first-time national-level competitors in its starting lineup.
In beach volleyball, the FU Men's Team recorded a strong straight-set victory over Aklan Catholic College, demonstrating composure and teamwork throughout the match. The team also faced tough competition from De La Salle University, which secured a straight-set victory. Meanwhile, the FU Women's Beach Volleyball Team advanced to the quarterfinals, where it faced the University of Santo Tomas in a bid to secure a semifinal berth. Beyond the results, the university's beach volleyball campaign reflected the values of discipline, trust, perseverance, and mental toughness.
The Greyhounds' participation in the 27th UNIGAMES reflects Foundation University's continuing commitment to developing student-athletes who compete with courage, discipline, and sportsmanship. From the futsal team's podium finish to the football and beach volleyball teams' hard-fought performances, each competition became an opportunity to learn, grow, and represent the university with pride.
More than medals and match results, the Greyhounds' journey in Kalibo stands as a testament to the spirit of perseverance: a reminder that every challenge builds character, every competition strengthens unity, and every step forward brings the university closer to greater achievements.
