Stronger Connections: FU and BISU Partner to Elevate Campus Digital Infrastructure
Foundation University recently partnered with Bohol Island State University (BISU) to launch a new, state-of-the-art hybrid meeting facility on the FU campus to boost regional collaboration in research, instruction, and institutional development. Funded through a cooperative agreement with the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) and the Central Visayas Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CVAARRDEC), this initiative officially establishes FU as a Consortium Member Institution in a major regional modernization effort. The official turnover ceremony brought university leaders and technical teams together to celebrate a shared commitment to advanced learning and interconnected research.
Under the newly signed Memorandum of Agreement, BISU procured, delivered, and installed a complete suite of high-tech audio-visual tools at the university. The upgraded facility features a smart TV, a smart tracking camera, high-quality audio equipment, specialized microphones, and a dedicated laptop. While the hardware remains under government oversight during the initial one-year project timeline, full ownership will transfer permanently to Foundation University upon successful completion of the term.
To ensure the long-term success of the project, Foundation University has committed to providing a secure, designated room equipped with stable internet and robust power supplies. The university appointed Dean Jobert Kleine Koerkamp as the official Information and Communications Technology Focal Person for the care and security of the equipment. Our MIS team also received specialized training to seamlessly operate and manage these modern systems for official academic, research, extension, and consortium tasks.
Key leaders attended the turnover, including FU Chancellor Dr. Charlotte Cariño, CVAARRDEC Deputy Director and Project Leader Dr. Lloyd Tejano, and BISU MIS Head Philip Glen Libay. They were joined by Dave Magtolis and Jonathan dela Cruz of FU MIS.
This initiative directly advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), specifically supporting SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By setting up these advanced hybrid tools, the project builds a digital bridge that connects local universities, government agencies, and research teams. This facility enables regional experts and educators to easily share knowledge, collaborate on environmental research, and deliver flexible learning experiences that overcome geographical boundaries.
With this partnership, we are taking a significant step forward in our enduring commitment to provide technology-centered education and to build meaningful partnerships that empower the entire community.
