The College of Computer Studies (CCS) held a seminar on October 8, 2025 at the Sofia Soller Sinco Hall featuring Mr. Jerome Apatan, a distinguished alumnus based in New Mexico, USA. The event aimed to inspire students through real-world experiences and personal insights, bridging the gap between college life and professional growth shared by Mr. Apatan himself.
In his talk, Mr. Apatan shared his journey as one of the few CCS students during his time who did not own a laptop, unlike most of the youth today. He also recounted his experience working at Entheos, the architectural firm at Foundation University, where he was one of only two students chosen for an internship immediately after graduation. He emphasized that there is always more to learn, especially in the ever-evolving field of technology. He spoke about persevering through challenges, adapting to new environments, and overcoming self-doubt to keep moving forward.
He highlighted the importance of pushing oneself to seek knowledge beyond what is taught in classrooms and how passion serves as one of the most vital driving forces toward success. He stated that one’s willingness to learn and share knowledge is what will take them far in life. Mr. Apatan also addressed the rise of artificial intelligence, reminding students not to fear it or see it as a threat, but as a tool to learn from and work alongside in their journey of growth.
The seminar concluded with an open forum, where students asked questions about Mr. Apatan’s experiences in the technical and technological field, and sought advice for aspiring professionals entering the industry. The event left students motivated to pursue their passions with renewed determination and a deeper appreciation of the lessons that come from hard work and perseverance.
Through his heartfelt storytelling, Mr. Apatan reminded students that success is not a straight path, but a journey of continuous growth, one that begins with courage and curiosity.
